Bob Ross and the Potato

It's 19 weeks.  Bret and I went to Christy and Brad's Halloween party last Saturday.  I had such a sober blast - their house was decorated like I've never seen- totally amazing.  I won the costume contest - but I think everyone just felt sorry for preggo.  Apparently this is the year to dress as a sexy vampire...b/c everyone was totally beautiful and vamped out.  And then here I come...a potato.  It was fun - everyone loved the boldness of the bare belly.  Bret was Bob Ross -he loves this costume and wears it well.

Weight is steady - up to 126lbs and feeling good about it.  I've increased my cardio and weight training to about 50min. a day, now that I'm feeling normal in the morning - but the intensity is way down.  I have a new-found love for chili.  I want it all the time.  I made a healthy low-sodium crock pot batch and it turned out great.  Still looking for spicy recipes - send 'em if you got 'em.  My other love is one of my client's Chicken Divan Soup - I did the low fat cream cheese and low fat/sodium chicken broth.  I also decreased the chicken broth to about 40oz.

Creamy chicken divan soup

2Tbsp butter
1 med sweet onion chopped
1 glove garlic,chopped
1/4 tsp dried crushed red pepper
1 (48 oz) container chicken broth
2 (12 oz) packages fresh broccoli florets (about 12 cups)
1 (8 0z) package cream cheese, cut in cubes
4 cups cooked chopped chicken
1 ( 8oz) block sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
salt and pepper
toasted slivered almonds (optional)

Melt butter. Add onion and cook until tender. Add garlic and red pepper and cook 2 minutes. Stir in chicken broth and broccoli. Cover and bring to a boil, reduce heat
and cook 10 to 15 minutes or until broccoli is tender. Stir in cream cheese.

Process mixture with a handheld blender until smooth. Add chicken and shredded cheese. Cook until cheese is melted. Season with salt and pepper.

Been a long long time

Time for some updates.  We are 17.5 weeks and I'm feeling pretty good during the mornings/afternoons.  The nights are still really tough - lots of stomach upset going on.  The good news is - my diet is slowly getting back to pre-preggo standards.  I'm incorporating lots of good fruits (still not a lot of veggies - unless pureed in Chicken Divan Soup).  No more Frosty's, french fries...blah blah ...artery clogging crap.  I still dream about a big fat toasted Poppyseed bagel with veggie cream cheese from Midtown Deli - but alas - I've cut those out as well.  Bret finally made me smile for the camera - although this one looks like I fell asleep (which I am likely to do at any time during the day).  Keep in mind that I have Lulu Boob pads in - so the chest is quite deceiving.
The comment I hear most throughout the days...."Wow - you can actually tell you're pregnant!"   That's nice.
