My Icee machine arrived! But NO SYRUP. So I just made crushed ice with a Coke.
My baby bump is officially noticeable. I'll post a pic soon - but the comments are pretty hilarious. Just once, I want someone to say "wow - you just look awesome" instead of:
1. "Hey momma - look at that tummy"
2. "Wow - you popped over the weekend"
3. "How could you have grown this much since last week?"
4. My favorite: "Girlfriend, your tummy is growin' - and so is your butt. But for black people, that's good - we like a round behind." (I started crying after this one - and yes, someone really said this to me).
I think Menzanna once asked me if I was *really* crying about *insert whatever crisis that came up that hour during my 9 month pregnancy* or because my ass was getting big.
ReplyDeleteFirst, girl, you will feel sooooo much better about your (adorable) pregnant body when you see MINE! I may get a belly but I also get a tire, an ass and all kinds of other growths. And you know what? THAT is what is going to keep your baby fed after s/he's born, so EMBRACE it! Someone told me God created us this way so that if we were to go into starvation our body would use the fat to continue creating breast milk. Once I heard that, I no longer deprived myself the cookie dough. :)
ReplyDeleteSecond, f@#$ anyone who makes any sort of comment about your pregnant body. Then, when you're done, tell them that you are listening to your baby and what baby wants, baby gets. And baby wants Rice Krispie treats and slushies. Deal with it. (Hey at least your ass will go back to being tiny after you have the baby. That girl has to live with hers for EVUH!)
Finally, and in all seriousness, nix the lean cuisines. Parents mag just had article about the seriously scary effects of the chemicals in plastics on not only us but on our unborn babies!!! It's way more serious than I ever thought. Heating the plastic worsens it ten-fold. Just looking out for you girlfriend.
